A Warning to Fellow Instagram Users

Special thanks to STearleArt for the heads up.

Any fellow artists who post on Instagram should be aware of Meta now making the moves to steal your art. You can send requests to opt out but they leave the options open for themselves to decline your request and steal your shit anyway.

Pretty pissed about this myself. Not sure where I'll go from here. Best of luck to you all.

Oh dear dont know if ill post art on insta then.. Thanks for puttin this out there, man!

No worries.

Was Instagram ever a good place to post art anyway? All I ever saw from it was impersonation and other art theft lol

It's always been a bit of a cesspit but it got so much worse when they adopted algorithms.

Nuked all of my stuff from the site once I read this a few days ago, it's not like I was enjoying much success there anyway.

Same. I might get rid of it too. Not sure yet.

Given that it's Meta we're talking about--- or Facebook as I still prefer to call them--
I'm not overly surprised. They've got a dubious track record when it comes to user info, so this whole AI bullshit is just another thing to add to the list.
For the longest time, I've avoided using their site and products--outside of the Oculus Quest, back when an account was mandatory for that-- but this makes it easier for me to avoid using the site altogether.

Really sad seeing the corporations destroying all platforms slowly but surely.

@CobaltRogueX While I actively avoid being cynical or pessimistic--mega corporations like Meta, Microsoft, or Amazon definitely make a lot of decisions that aren't in the public's best interest. In many respects--we're in a new gilded age.
Much like the previous gilded age of the early 20th Century (with its monopolies and offensively rich tycoons)--we're in an age of gargantuan conglomerates that use information technology in morally questionable ways.
But at the same time-- we have sites like Newgrounds that somehow, someway, manage to thrive despite the towering competition. And there's more than enough people who hate what companies are doing nowadays to try their own thing. Frustration, anger, and even despair are reasonable reactions to have---but there's plenty of forces preventing corporations from having a total victory.

Oh boy, more AI

P.S. you work is really getting good man, I'm glad I followed you.

Yeah, I'm pretty sick of it being pushed in our faces.
Oh thank you!

Hahahah I stopped using Instagram anyways lololol

ew glad i dont use instagram much anymore
